As Summer winds down and October gets closer you will start seeing pink pop up all around. Each year I ask that you help me support our friends at Friends for and Earlier Breast Cancer Test. It's very personal to me and something I look forward to doing each year. Please take a minute to find out why pink is personal to me.
My Mom passed away from Breast Cancer coming up on four year's in November. She was the strongest woman in my life and she gave every ounce she had to battle this terrible disease. Because she was able to get tested to see if genetics linked her to this disease, I was also tested. I do in fact carry the BRCA2 gene that can cause Breast Cancer in the future, but lucky for me, I have that choice to do something about it early. It's so important to stop this disease before it starts and give strength to those battling it right now. After my Mom, there have been several women in my life diagnosed. I am very passionate about detecting this disease earlier before it affects one more person.
Here is the first look at the 2015 bracelet. Also available as a necklace.
How did I choose this year's design?
Each year the design speaks to me. It sounds silly, but I really get a gut feeling on what I should design. Perhaps my Mom is whispering in my ear. You know I am a statement gal and have designed chunkier bracelets the past few years. I wanted to do something different this year and design a delicate everyday piece. I am thrilled the way this year's design turned out. It looks gorgeous alone and can also be stacked with my other designs. I wanted to offer something different too so I am also offering a necklace option this year. The sterling silver in the bracelet reminds me of finding silver linings when you are faced with challenges.
Design and Donation Details:
10% of the sales will be donated to Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Test. Our goal is $1,000 this year. It's lofty, but I know we can do it with your help!
The main accent bead in this year's bracelet is handblown German glass that has fine silver swirled into the bead. The bead holds a special place in my heart. I met the woman who makes each bead by hand in Maui, Hawaii on my honeymoon one month before my Mother's passing. She made this one special for this bracelet. The Hawaiian glass bead is flanked with gold filled saucer beads and sterling silver chain. A silver filled lobster clasp closes this dainty bracelet that can be worn alone or stacked with our other bracelets. (Gold and silver filled jewelry lasts longer and does not easily tarnish.)
A perfect everyday piece to remind you of the quiet strength that everyone who is touched by breast cancer faces.
